New Chapter

In September 2025 I will have an one year interims professorship at the University of Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern including my own research group and lab facilities. This marks a huge step for me and the team, giving me more independance but also more academic duties. I set up my own lab including my algae culture collection comprising 300+ cyanobacterial and green algal strains from across the globe. The new research group will be called XCEL - Extreme Cryptogam Ecology Lab, representing our interest in cyanobacteria, green algae, lichens and biocrusts from extreme habitats on our planet such as the Arctic or Atacama Desert.
